Privacy policy
Last updated: 9 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Westland collects, why, and what your rights are. We keep it short because we collect very little.
Who we are
Westland is a trading name of Westland Systems Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 06929992), with its registered office at The Copper Room, Deva Centre, Trinity Way, Salford, M3 7BG. We are the "controller" of the personal information described here.
If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email hello@westlandsystems.com.
What we collect and why
- When you email us. We receive your name, email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it to reply and, if we work together, to manage that work.
- When you use our contact form. We collect your name, email address, organisation and preferred times to talk (if you give them), what you'd like from us, and your message. We use them to reply to you and, if you've asked for one, to arrange a call.
- When you visit the website. Our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for anything you wouldn't reasonably expect. We'll only add you to a mailing list if you ask us to.
We don't use analytics or advertising trackers on this website.
Cookies
This website doesn't set any cookies of its own. Our fonts are hosted on our own site, so visiting doesn't send your information to font services.
Our legal basis
We use your information because we have a legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running our business, or because it's needed to take steps towards a contract with you, or to carry one out.
Who we share it with
We only share your information with the service providers we use to run Westland, and only so they can provide that service:
- Netlify, which hosts this website and receives contact form submissions.
- hosts.co.uk, which receives email sent to our domain and forwards it to us.
- Google (Gmail), which we use to read and reply to email.
Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States. Where information is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by safeguards approved under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK-US data bridge.
We may also share information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for up to two years after our last contact, so we have a record of our conversations. If we work together, we keep project and financial records for as long as the law requires, which is usually six years.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct or delete it
- object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict it
- ask us to transfer it to you or someone else, where that applies
To use any of these rights, email hello@westlandsystems.com. We'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
